Q?

My documents are confidential and I’m not sure I can send them to you.

A.

VOVF is committed to maintaining the strictest confidentiality in processing your documents. Our team of translators are equally committed.

We can provide and sign a confidentiality agreement on simple request.

Q?

We liked your translation test, but your rates are somewhat high. What can you do about this?

A.

It is important to consider our services, support and the quality of translations in addition to our price.

VOVF does not propose one-shot low-cost translations but rather high-quality translations at competitive prices in an aim to establish long-term cooperation.

Q?

We have bilingual employees in our company. Why should I use your services?

A.

As is the case with all companies, employees are hired to carry out specific tasks in which they are skilled and experienced. Asking your bilingual employees to translate is not the best way to use their time.

Not only are they not professional translators, but they will spend more time on a task for which they are not necessarily qualified.

Moreover, this will also take them away from their usual work. The time they spend translating is in fact a hidden cost that may compromise your company's productiveness and optimisation of resources.

Q?

Can you do a translation test for us?

A.

We will gladly do a brief translation test free of charge for large-scale projects. Contact a VOVF specialist and speak to them about your project.

Q?

How long does it take to get a quote?

A.

We know your time is valuable so we act fast. Translation quotes are almost always delivered within 24 hours and usually much, much earlier.

Q?

Some translation agencies in France and abroad have offered me cheaper quotes. How do you justify this?

A.

There are many factors that need to be taken into account. Generally speaking, it is always possible to find cheaper options. The question you need to ask yourself is this: In order to save a little now, am I ready to risk paying more in the end because I had to get my text proofread, revised, or worse, entirely retranslated?

High-quality professional translation comes at a price: as the saying goes, you get what you pay for. Low cost translations only lead to disappointment.

Finally, it is important to think ahead and not regret your initial decisions. VOVF looks to build long-term partnerships with its clients. Finally, VOVF is a French translation agency located in France and governed by French law.

Q?

I had an unpleasant experience with another translation agency. Why should I trust you?

A.

Not all translation agencies are the same! VOVF was founded based on the observation that many companies were not entirely satisfied with existing translation services. We aim to please! Many of our clients have come to us after having experienced disappointment with other agencies.

Q?

How long does it take to translate a document?

A.

It depends on the volume of the texts to be translated, the complexity of the subject matter, the language pair and the size of the project. VOVF takes your needs into account when setting deadlines. Talk to a VOVF expert!

Q?

What is the difference between a translation agency, a translation company and a translation firm?

A.

You will come across all these terms, but it helps to know that there is no real difference between a translation companyand a translation agency. A translation firm is often smaller and run by the translator who carries out the translations.

Q?

What kind of texts do you translate?

A.

VOVF translation agency translates all your documents and professional texts in many fields: brochures, presentations, press releases, reports, contracts, subtitling, etc. This list is not exhaustive. Please feel free to contact us for more information.

Q?

How do I choose a translation agency?

A.

There are many translation agencies on the market, which makes it difficult to choose the right translation agency for you. The best advice we can give you is to talk to someone at the agency and not hesitate to ask questions. If you feel the agency knows what they are doing and masters the linguistic combinations you require, then that's the right agency for you. Additionally, they must always be willing to communicate! If the agency does not meet either of these two criteria, it's time to look for another agency. Next, take a look at their references, their clients and samples of work they have carried out in your field.

Our experts at VOVF will listen to all your needs and provide tailor-made solutions. Many companies have already chosen VOVF for the quality of its translation services and references.

Q?

Why should I use a professional translation service?

A.

Since you are a professional in your area of expertise, how you communicate is important; it could make or break your brand image. You've invested time and money to market yourself and present the right image and message; why not do the same when translating them? It is important to capitalise on committed agencies to maximise your communication globally. Consequently, translation will play a major role representing your brand in another culture as it is your medium of communication in a foreign language. To succeed at this, it is important to entrust your translations to a professional translation agency who, in addition to being the best service provider, will also be a business partner.

Q?

Is being bilingual or trilingual enough to translate?

A.

No, being bilingual or trilingual isn't enough to be a professional translator. Why? Because you don't just become a professional translator overnight. Being a professional translator requires specific skills that takes years of training and experience to develop and perfect techniques. A professional translator has excellent writing skills in the target language, which is the translator's native language and the one they translate into.

Q?

What does source language and target language mean?

A.

The source language is the language of the document to be translated. This document is also called the source document.

The target language is the language into which the document will be translated.

Q?

Why does your team consist only of native translators?

A.

First of all, it is important to understand what native translators are. Native translators are translators who translate only into their mother tongue. Translation is a difficult task; a translator translates the meaning of a text, not the words, and for this they need to be aware of all the nuances and subtleties of the target language. This is only possible when a translator works into their mother tongue. This is a sure-fire way to avoid clumsiness and inaccuracy that are recurrent in translations carried out by non-native translators. This is the first criterion for quality.

Q?

What pricing criteria do you use for your quotes?

A.

VOVF takes into account many factors before providing a translation quote. This is why it is almost impossible to provide rates without fully analysing your translation project. Among the various criteria analysed for a translation quote (linguistic combinations, deadlines / how urgent the translation is, text volume, technicity, etc.) the most relevant criterion is the volume of text to be translated. VOVF counts the number of source words, or the number of words in the document to be translated.

Q?

How do you count the number of words in a document?

A.

First of all, VOVF analyses the document in detail by taking into account the client's specific instructions on the content. We then count the number of words to be translated in the source text, often using specialised software.
